I went out for a couple of beers at my neighborhood bar which is known to be a sports bar and on the tv was college football.
Nothing out of the ordinary about that except for the Advocare logos on the field.
I don’t watch college ball so it was a surprise to be watching the Advocare Independence Bowl.
It turns out it was the 3rd annual bowl. Now I know corporate sponsorships and celebrity endorsements are nothing new but it’s still interesting to see Network Marketing companies being endorsed on national television.
Advocare has several corporate sponsorships in the athletic arena including national spokesman QB Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints.
Amway is another MLM company with corporate sponsorships. The Amway Center for Sports and Entertainment is the home of the NBA’s Orlando magic. Their beauty and skincare line is a sponsor of the Miss America pageant.
So here’s my question do these “celebrity” endorsement have an impact of the legitimacy of network marketing in the eyes of the skeptics?
The answer is No.
Skeptic [skep-tik]
noun
1. a person who questions the validity or authenticity of something purporting to be factual.
2. a person who maintains a doubting attitude, as toward values, plans, statements, or the character of others.
It wouldn’t matter who endorsed the Multi-level marketing business model the skeptics would remain skeptics. There’s a big difference between being skeptical and being cautious. Skepticism is about mindset. Being cautious is about using care, forethought and prudence.
Skeptics don’t care about the facts or the possibilities. That would require critical thinking. Thinking outside the box. Challenging what they believe to be true. They can’t imagine taking personal responsibility for their current situation it has to be someone else’s fault.
They already know it’s the governments fault or their parents, spouse, economy, education or whatever.
Limiting beliefs stop people from achieving all manner of success in anything and everything.
That being said does television exposure help the Network Marketing industry?
It does give it a lot of exposure. There are still plenty of people out there who don’t really understand the power of the business model. People who are willing and ready to find out.
In the end does the exposure help the distributors bottom line and help reach success?
I don’t know the answer to that question. Different companies handle television leads differently. Some corporate sites direct the lead to local distributors and some make the leads available for purchase. In the end it depends on the skills of the individual.
Here’s the bottom line-relationships. You can have leads coming in from all directions but if you don’t care about your prospects wants and needs you’re never going to have a sustainable business. We all need the skills to have success but that will come in time.
If you wait for someone or something to create your success you’re going to be waiting a long time.
P.S. Have any thoughts? Don’t forget to leave them here.
