Is Fear keeping you Stuck?

Lets face it we all like what's comfortable and familiar. Sometimes we're even happy there. More often than not I hear people talk about how unhappy they are or how they wish things were different. Oh well, that's life, I can't change things, what are you going to do. I'm quite intimate with this kind of thinking-been there done that. Deciding to build a network marketing business is a tremendous decision to begin with, then there's what comes next.

We've all felt the excitement of something new, telling everyone about it, feeling like you're on the verge of something great. And then...crash. We lose the excitement, we realize it's not going to be as easy as we thought or have been told. We'll have small successes followed by seemingly crushing failures. Fear starts to set in. What if I never reach my goals? What if no one sees the opportunity that I see? What if no one understands? What if...

Rejection, unreturned phone calls, oh no one of "those things". It's so easy to slip back into the familiar, the comfortable. The job we don't particularly care for, the bills we can barely keep up with, the dream vacation we'll never take but hey that's life. I looked up fear in the dictionary and found a pretty long definition. However "fearless" is simply defined as free from fear.

Being free from fear isn't about not having fear but rather not being held captive by it. Feel it, acknowledge it and free yourself by moving forward and do whatever it is you need to do. The funny thing about doing things you're afraid of is do them often enough and the fear diminishes until it's just a fleeting emotion. Is it easier said than done? ABSOLUTELY. Do it anyway.

The Woulda, Shoulda, Coulda Syndrome

I probably don't need to explain that title. We've all been there. I should have done that, I could have done this, what would've have happened if...? We sit and think of all the things that could have been and in the mean time nothing changes. How often have you let this thinking stall your network marketing business.

You get off the phone with a prospect and think how much better of a job you could've done. When they asked that question you should have said...If only I did it that way or this way where would I be now? Well, my advice? Get over it. None of us are perfect. We all make mistakes.

I've spent a lot of time in woulda, shoulda, coulda land and you know what, it's a boring, barren unproductive, life sucking place. Instead of worrying about what you didn't say, for example when talking to a prospect, write down the conversation, how can you improve it? Learn from it and move on. When we learn new skills we get better by doing, over and over. Not by hesitating or procrastinating.

Your business won't fall apart if you make mistakes. If that happened no one would succeed. Do you think the top income earners in network marketing don't make mistakes or aren't uncertain from time to time? Please, they are human after all.  One more thing always take advantage of the support in your company and on your team. Find a work out partner, no one does it alone.

The TV is Killing my Business!

Well ok maybe it's not killing my network marketing business but it sure isn't helping. I haven't had cable for over a year now. It wasn't doing anything to help me build my business. It's a big time waster and usually has a negative affect. I was one of those people who got home from work turned on the tv and it stayed on until I went to bed. I scheduled my life around what was on.

Then I got into network marketing and personal development. I started reading and listening to cd's. I realized watching tv was only holding my growth back. To change your life, whether it's your network marketing business, health or relationships you have to be willing to give some things up in exchange for what you want to get. All the training in the world won't help if you're not willing to do the activities necessary to move forward.

Here's the tricky thing about habits like watching tv, they can sometimes creep back into your life. I found even with only 3 stations I was starting to watch more tv. So I made the decision to do something about it. I unplugged the tv and put it away in the attic. The funny thing is I don't miss it-at all! Sometimes we think something will be a terrible sacrifice but in reality it's all in our heads.

I always loved to read so I'm doing a lot more reading. Books that will move me forward towards my goals. Whether it's strictly a personal development book, an autobiography of successful people or about succeeding in network marketing it doesn't matter. Personal growth and acquiring knowledge is a life long endeavor. Besides is Britney Spears helping me build my business? Is my sponsor on Big Brother?
