FDA Approved, So What

Any one who watches tv for 5 minutes has seen the media blitz about Alli, weight loss in a pill -bought over the counter and FDA approved (wasn't phen-pen FDA approved?).  Unfortunately people hope for results without doing their own research. There's a lot of info out there, here's some of what I found. Alli is based on the drug Oristat which is a fat blocker. We all have enzymes that are responsible for breaking down nutrients. Alli binds to the fat you eat and passes it directly thru your body by preventing the enzymes  from breaking it down.

Much like any other drug it doesn't distinguish between good fat and bad fat. Fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin D need these fats. Alli also has some embarrassing side effects like anal leakage and problems controlling stool. Just writing that grosses me out. Any pill that suggests I wear dark pants and carry around underwear can stay on the shelf. I remember a friend of mine whose husband was on Xenical (same drug). He was a truck driver, had to pull over all the time because when he had to go he had to go.

Like any diet pill proper nutrition and exercise are highly recommended. However many people take these pills without changing their daily habits and hope for the best. My advice? Forget the pills and stick to nutrition and exercise. That's too hard! Overhauling your health over night is hard and seldom sticks. Remember the slight edge. Every little thing you do every day adds up over time.

Will losing one pound a week change your life? Maybe not in a week or a month but what about 6 months? A year? 5 Years? How long have you been unhealthy? Can you turn that around in a couple months? Maybe if your one of those obsessive types (you know who you are) I'm not especially disciplined but I understand a small error in judgement compounded over time could be the end of me. I also understand small positive decisions compounded over time could take me anywhere I want to be. My business, my health, my relationships or whatever. What are you doing right now to reach your goals?
