Color to Success:Personalities Part 1

Over the course of history many studies have been done about personalty studies. Phlegmatic, Sanguine, Melancholy and Choleric. Don't ask me how to pronounce those, I have no idea. I prefer yellow, blue, green and red. That's the colors of the different personalities, the Colors to Success, much easier to remember. So what does this have to do with network marketing? Have you ever wondered why one person can talk to ten people and not sponsor anyone and someone else talks to the same ten people and sponsors eight of them-for the same opportunity?

Different things are important to different people. You can't talk the same way to everyone. Scripts are a great guideline but you can't just read them word for word, it doesn't work. Enter the personalities. Who are you talking to? What's important to them? What's the right thing to say? Wouldn't it be nice to be able to figure it out within the first few minutes of the conversation! OK, let's go over some of the points staring with the yellow personality.

Yellows (Phlegmatic) make up 35% of the population. They're the best listeners. They're dependable, patient, supportive and easy to get along with. They are very open with their feelings but when you ask them a question the answers are short. Yellows are polite and soft spoken and they hate bullies and pushy people. When they do anything it's not for themselves or for money, all they want to do is help people. If you tell them they can make a ton of money, you'll turn them right off-the conversation will be over. This personality will perish in a stairstep-breakaway compensation plan.

If you're talking to a yellow, be caring and patient. Talk softly and slowly. It's all about helping people and making a positive difference in someone's life. You're not going to sign up a yellow too quickly. It's important to slowly build that relationship. Family, friends and helping is what the yellow is all about. If you can't be sincere and honest and patient you're toast. You can't just pretend to care the yellow will figure it out. Even though the yellow is the best listener you have be a good listener too. Once a yellow gets going they build huge organizations with a high retention rate. They are team players and genuinely care about the people they work with and will help them in any way they can.

Color to Success Personalities Part 4

The final color is Red. Reds are very direct. They have no problem asking you what you want and why. They have the biggest ego. I'm sure everyone has known a red at some point. They think they already know everything and will tell you so.  Don't bother trying to change a red's mind even if your just trying to help, you'll just wear yourself out.

For the red it's all about the money and prestige. They never show their feelings and play everything close to the vest. They also expect you to respect them no matter what. They are Not coachable so don't try. If you find yourself with a red prospect don't talk about helping people or what a great support system you have, that's not important to them, they want to know about the money and the recognition they'll get.

Whether you want to sponsor a red or not is a personal choice. I would rather not have them in my business. They are not team players. Team players and support for and from everyone is what helps everyone on your team succceed.

Most people are a combination of the colors with one being the primary color. I'm a yellow with a good splash of green. Knowing the colors can benefit you not only in your business but in your personal life too. This is one of the free trainings you can participate in with Mentoring for Free. There's also a section about the colors in the free ebook Success in 10 Steps. From the yellow that is me have a great day!

Color to Success Personalities Part 3

Let's cover the Green personality. The green is self contained, when you ask them a question they want to know why your asking. They're always thinking, trying to figure out what you want. They're slow to answer and are indirect, very short answers. They'll never give you more information then is absolutely neccessary. You need to take your time and let your questions sink in. Greens enunciate their words correctly and they talk slower.

Greens expect you to listen to what they have to say. They need all the details. When they ask a question, if you don't know the answer you better be able to direct them to the answer. They'll take all the information and then research it themselves. Many times a green is so busy researching, calculating, and re-calculating and figuring out all the angles, they get analysis paralysis. You need to be patient, very patient.

Greens do not like to share their feelings. If your spouse or mate is a green, they are not typically openly affectionate. But that doesn't mean they don't care or love you. They just don't think it's neccessary to say it all the time, you should already know. They'll also need to take care of the finances, they can balance a check book like no one else.

Greens are Very organized, Everything has it's place and they know where every place is and where the backup is and the backup-backup is. Last but certainly not least, if you have an appointment with a green-never, never be late. Greens pride themselves on being punctual and get very annoyed at people who are not.
