The Social Graces of Social Marketing

Everyone's heard of Social Marketing. It's myspace and network marketing sites like Ojeez and Adlandpro. There's a right way and a wrong way to use social marketing. Are you on a networking site? Do you get unsolicited messages (that would be spam) about the latest, greatest deal? How does that make you feel?

Guess what , if that's what your doing those people are feeling the same way. You hear about building relationships, building a know, like and trust  relationship with people. That's where you need to start. The place you start that is on your profile.

  • Let people know who you are
  • Let people know how you can help them
  • Don't make it just a sales page
  • Share your interests
  • Brand yourself

Make it interesting. People like to connect with other people who share common interests. Make a video so people can connect with you. Just be yourself. All these sites have a way to invite other people to network or be friends. Send a little note first, introduce yourself. Let them know you're a real person and not some script used to automate your friends list.

Once they've joined your circle of contacts keep in touch, send them a note once in awhile. Be genuine. Be a friend. See how you can help them. Social networking takes time and consistency. Pick one networking site you like and stick with it. Be active. Most sites have blogs, forums and different groups you can join. You also don't have to pick a paid membership, most free ones have what you need. Joining different networks is ok if you have the time to keep up. The benefits of social networking takes time to get results. The key is consistent action taken everyday. Decide how much time you're going to spend on the site and stick with it.
